Ingredients
- 65 grams/liter of coffee/water (about 5 grams more than usual)
- 40% Ice (example 200 grams for 500mL brew, see Notes)
- 60% Hot water (example 300 mL for a 500 mL brew, see Notes)
Instructions
- Finely ground your coffee. Go a little finer than you normally would.
- Place your ice in the bottom of your decanter
- Bloom with 2 to 3 the times of weight of coffee as water. Let it bloom for at least 45 seconds.
- Try and stretch the brew to 2 to 3 minutes
- At the end of the brew stir once in a circular motion and then once in the opposite direction.
- Swirl the decanter around to mix everything.
- Pour onto a cup with fresh ice cubes waiting.
Notes
The ice / hot water ratio just refers to how much the weight of water you are using. For example, for a 500 mL gram brew that is 200 grams of ice and 300 mL of hot water.
Context
I got this recipe from a video from James Hoffman titled “Better than cold brew: How to make iced filter coffee”. It was “Entertaining Ideas” Google Keep note and I’m just writing it down on a Saturday afternoon in Dallas since I’m a little aimless at the computer!
